OUTRAGEOUS CUTS TO WINTER GRITTING HALTED BY HBFI

Your Bolton Conservative Council has tried to cut several vital roads in Horwich and Blackrod from its Winter Gritting schedule until HBFI Councillors called in that decision for it to be scrutinised.

In Blackrod, Green Barn Way, Vicarage Rd, Hill Lane and Little Scotland would no longer be gritted. In Horwich, Victoria Road, Mason Street, Vale Avenue, Winter Hey Lane, Longworth Road, Brazley, Claypool, Brownlow Road, and the entire Lever Park Estate would no longer be gritted.

Horwich and Blackrod were promised a winter gritting review to consider their hillier topography compared to the rest of the borough. Instead, Bolton Council slashes gritting, which is nothing short of dangerous! Worst, this decision to cut Winter Gritting from all these roads was supported by your Conservative Councillors, Susan Baines and Marie Brady.

Councillor David Grant said “I am pleased the call in by Peter and I made this decision unpalatable which ultimately led to their U-Turn, I am grateful to those members of the LibDems and F&KF who backed up our request to call in the cuts to winter gritting.
